SUMMARY

Main Street Project is a 501(c)3 agriculture non-profit organization based in Minnesota. Together with our partners, we are innovating a path towards a more just, resilient and healthy food system. Our 100-acre farm near Northfield is home to much of our work including research, demonstration, training and community building.

POSITION

Main Street Project is looking for a bilingual Program Director who can help align and grow our community food security efforts in Northfield-Faribault. With funding from our financial partner, BlueCross BlueShield, our new Program Director will be part of a large cohort of Minnesota food access leaders and oversee our Community Connector, Community Gardens and Community Land Share initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Programming

Oversee the development and implementation of Main Street Project community initiatives including the Community Connector program, Community Gardens, and Community Land Share
Initiate and set goals for initiatives based on organizations strategic objectives
Direct and facilitate Main Street Project events such as tours and volunteer events
Develop and manage professional partnerships to expand initiatives at Main Street Project such as partnerships with City of Northfield, Growing Up Healthy, Community Action Center, and Three Rivers.
Translate all materials related to program recruitment, evaluations, surveys, etc.
Maintain program contact lists
Develop and implement community initiative progress tracking system

Supervisory Tasks

Hire, train and be a motivating mentor to our diverse team of Community Connectors
Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment for the Community Connectors through constructive feedback, professional development, and future career planning
Plan weekly Connector staff meetings and approve timesheets
Create workplans for Connectors
Conduct yearly Connector staff evaluations

Financial and Grant Management

Serve as liaison between Main Street Project, Wilder Research and Blue Cross Blue Shield
Manage the operational and administrative duties associated with BCBS contract including attending monthly and quarterly check-in meetings with BCBS
Diversify funding income for Main Street Project community initiatives
Develop and manage community initiative budgets
Research, write and manage various grant opportunities related to Main Street Project community initiatives

Misc. Job Functions

Provide support to other initiatives and departments as needed
Support farm production as needed
Special events throughout the year including occasional evenings and weekends

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Speaks fluently in Spanish and English
A minimum of two years in supervisory role
Previous experience working in community outreach
Belief in organizations mission and goals
Exceptional leadership, time management and organizational skills
Can work collaboratively and independently
Comfortable working in diverse environments
Friendly, approachable, inspires trust
Computer, email and internet skills
Has reliable means of transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in business administration or related field
Previous experience working at a non-profit organization
Experience in food production and agriculture

SALARY BENEFITS

Expected salary is $30,000 - $35,000 per year based on experience. Main Street Project offers health insurance, PTO, sick time and retirement benefits.
